STMicroelectronics Holds Industrial Summit 2020 in Shenzhen

  • Themed “Powering Your Innovation”, Industrial Summit 2020 focuses on Power and Energy, Motor Control, and Automation
  • Over 100 ingenious solutions and demos on display with more than 50 in-depth technical sessions

STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, will host the 2020 Industrial Summit at the Futian Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen, China, on December 2.

A pioneer with many industry-firsts and more than 18,500 patents, ST is a long-standing leader in technology innovation. Under the theme of “Powering Your Innovation”, the Industrial Summit in its second year will deliver creative activities and demos focusing on Power and Energy, Motor Control, and Automation.

Power and Energy: ST is one of the world leaders in smart-power technologies and continues to lead the movement to green technologies with wide-bandgap materials that enable the industry to save energy without compromising innovation. At Industrial Summit 2020, visitors will have the chance to explore ST’s MasterGaN, the world’s first solution to integrate a silicon driver and GaN power transistors in one package. This market-unique platform enables 80% lighter and 70% smaller chargers and adapters able to charge 3 times faster compared to ordinary silicon-based solutions.

To showcase its wide portfolio in Power & Energy, ST will also demonstrate its 50W RX/TX (Receiver/Transmitter) wireless-charging kit, 65W USB PD Type-C GaN fast charger, three boost converters including 3.6kW CCM Totem Pole PFC (Power Factor Correction), 15kW Vienna rectifier and 15kW 3L T-Type bi-directional PFC, and PLC (Power line communication)based smart solar-panel module solution.

Motor Control: ST provides a wide range of innovative, safer, and more efficient motion-control solutions for low- to high-power applications. At the Motor Control area, the Company will demonstrate its full spectrum of motor-control solutions for home appliances and power tools (both low and high voltage), including fans, vacuum cleaner, and treadmill demos, most of which were developed locally at the ST A-Pac Motor Control Competence Center.

Other motor-control solutions on display include a position-control demo based on the STSPIN32F0 and Modbus communication and a Maze game position control via EtherCAT communication based on the STM32F7 microcontroller.

Automation: ST offers reliable solutions for factory and home/building automation with high power efficiency and safety. At Industrial Summit 2020, the Company will introduce its latest low-power and highly integrated Smart-Home demo kit powered by the ST BlueNRG-2 and KNX for remote lighting control via mobile app.

Other ST Automation solutions on display include a compact asset-tracking demo, aftermarket wireless digit reader for metering, STM32WL LoRa access for network & cloud, and IO-Link industrial modular sensor board based on the L6362A transceiver.

Customer Demo Highlights at Showstoppers Addressing 5 Areas
At Industrial Summit 2020, visitors will also be able to experience customer demos powered by ST products, including a fast-charging pile for electric vehicle (EV), a wireless-charging solution for e-scooters, various robotic solutions, and industrial automation system.

Charging-Pile Solutions:  A 60-160kW DC charging-pile solution on display is mainly designed for centralized EV fast-charging stations. With the latest IGBT power solutions from ST, this charging solution provides customers with both CCS Combo2 and CHAdeMO dual-standard charging options. The charging system can meet the faster charging requirements of EVs containing high-capacity batteries and targeting longer endurance mileage.

Wireless-Charging Solutions for E-Scooters: Shared electric scooters have been very popular in many countries in recent years, with charging being the biggest challenge. Using ST’s Power MOSFETs, VIPer, Triacs, PFC controller, and gate driver, a customer solution on display combines a fast wireless-charging solution with a parking rack to help solve the problem of electric scooter operation in the field.

Robotic Solutions: Robots are a good replacement of human workforce to execute repeated and unsafe tasks in smart factories, enhancing productivity and reducing production costs. At
Industrial Summit 2020, robotic solutions from local ST customers will showcase how they work with high speed and precision easing the work of humans in industrial scenarios.

Automation Production Line:  A mobile-phone production line demo will display how a micro smart factory functions. The entire production line consists of 5 workstations, from AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and grinding to locking, gluing, and labeling. This modular flexible production line can quickly respond to the design request and has strong environmental adaptability. It employs MES (Manufacturing Execution System), which enables it to take advantage of Big Data to build a new management model of “Internet + industry”.

Smart Home: The Industrial Summit 2020 will also host a smart-home demo with smart appliances using ST’s power and motor-control devices. The various ST customer products on display cover every aspect of Smart Home, including robotic cleaner, face-recognition home security, lawnmower, air conditioner, TV, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, exhaust fan, IH (Induction Heat) rice cooker, smart dressing mirror, and supersonic hair dryer.

To experience all these innovative ST and customer demos, please join us at Industrial Summit 2020 (December 2, 2020 in Shenzhen, China).
