STMicroelectronics Exhibits Latest Solutions for Automotive Systems at AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2020

With the spread of EVs and HEVs, and accelerating development of autonomous driving and connected cars, more and more semiconductor devices are being installed in vehicles. STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, is exhibiting its latest semiconductor solutions for automotive systems supporting the electrification and digitization of vehicles at AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2020 show in Tokyo, Japan (Jan 15 to 17 2020).

  • ST is demonstrating electric traction for next-generation EVs using its industry-leading SiC (Silicon Carbide) power MOSFETs with cutting-edge small packages. The innovative package enables increased design flexibility and makes power inverters smaller and lighter, which eases using SiC MOSFETs in parallel to support various current requirements.
  •  An automotive image sensor with a global shutter function for driver monitoring is also on show. This image sensor can recognize the driver clearly and monitor in-cabin alertness with infrared light. In the demo, a robot performs facial motions of a driver and the sensor outputs its data, so the visitor can see the sensor’s effectiveness. ST is also exhibiting a demo of road-noise cancellation featuring its audio accelerometer.
  •  Visitors to the ST booth can see a demonstration of vehicle-to-roadside-infrastructure communication using a telematics processor with an integrated circuit for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication. Another high-performance infotainment processor shows support for a smartphone link and Bluetooth® audio connectivity with a digital dashboard for motorbikes.
  •  As the architecture of vehicles is changing from single-function Electronic Control Units (ECUs) to multi-functional Domain Controllers, ST is introducing its latest automotive 32-bit microcontroller, which combines the advantages of 28nm FD-SOI, multiple Arm® Cortex®-R52 cores, and on-chip Phase Change Memory (PCM) to provide high memory capacity and high-speed read/write control.

The ST booth will also exhibit a broad range of devices and solutions for automotive, including Si MOSFET, IGBT, ADAS solutions, positioning ICs, automotive 8-bit microcontrollers, car body ICs, power management, gate drivers, LED drivers, analog products, NFC reader ICs, and EEPROM devices.
